WORK TO BEGIN ON MILLOM P.O. RAMP
Email confirms start date
Matt Silcock, Disability Programme Manager, Post Office Limited,Royal Mail Group has emailed the South Copeland Disability Group Secretary, confirming work will begin on 5th July and should last for 4 weeks.
This is good news for the SCDG, who have campaigned for two years to get this ramp installed, and for the disabled members of the community, who have never been inside the Millom Post Office, will now be abled to purchase stamps, post parcels, tax their car, inside instead of the indignity and humiliation of doing it outside in all weathers, in full view of all and sundry, or travel 4 miles to Silecroft village hall, on a poor public transport system, if they do not have their own car, on the one day a week it is open...or send inside a friend or partner to do the purchase on their behalf.....yes...soon they will be able to enjoy the same right to Post Office Counter Services as non-disabled customers ..
THE RAMP IS COMPLETED, TO ALLOW WHEELCHAIRS/BUGGIES ACCESS BY THE RAMP
