Millom men jailed for baseball bat attack

THREE Millom men have been jailed and two men given suspended sentences for carrying out a baseball bat attack.

Alan James Johnston, 43 and Alan Thomas Johnston Junior, 23, of Newton Street, Millom were jailed along with Craig Robinson, 43 for 10 and a half months.
Mr Robinson's sons Shane Robinson, 23, and Todd Robinson of Market Street, were handed an eight month sentence suspended for 12 months.
The attack took place on April 8 last year.
A group of balaclava-wearing men attacked two cars parked at Haverigg beach leaving one of the occupants was left with cuts and bruises and damaging both cars.
The men did not admit responsibility when questioned but pleaded guilty to affray in Preston Crown Court yesterday.
Detective Inspector Adrian Johnson said: “This investigation focused on catching a large group of men who set upon cars and the occupants inside. It was a premeditated attack in which they purposely went out to cause damage. It was just fortunate that no-one was seriously injured.
“Thankfully these types of incidents are rare in Millom. However, the sentencing of these men should reassure the community of Millom that violence of any kind will not be tolerated and we will do all we can to bring those who become involved in violence to justice.”
