Workers fix dangerous crossing
Published at 11:56, Thursday, 01 May 2008
A DANGEROUS rail crossing has now been fixed.
Network Rail were forced to ask Cumbria County Council for an emergency road closure because the cattle grid at the crossing was becoming dangerous for vehicles.
But the work has been successfully completed and the road opened again this week.
A spokesman said: “We had a problem with the pyramid-shaped slats on the cattle grid that runs across the road.
“Each slat was fastened with bolts and they had worked loose and had started to move, which meant it was becoming dangerous for vehicles to use it.”
