Youngsters try out cops’ prison cells

YOUNGSTERS were given the chance to use a fire hose and try out prison cells as part of a campaign to keep them safe.

The Accident Prevention Day was organised by staff at Millom Children’s Centre, in Lapstone Road.

Children were given tours of the town’s police station and cells, in Station Road, shown how to use fire-fighting equipment, including high pressure hoses, and also visited the town’s ambulance bay on Friday (20).

Anna Batty, service manager for the centre, said: “Millom Children’s Centre is really pleased to work in partnership with local emergency services including the police, ambulance and fire service, to provide an interactive experience for children and their families.

“Through hands-on experience we hope that children will have the chance to think about safety and how they can keep themselves safe.”
